Second Year Defenseman Gets First Opportunity in AHL

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, today announced that defenseman Denny Urban has been loaned to the Worcester Sharks of the AHL. This marks the first stint in the AHL for Urban, a second year pro from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Urban leads the Royals—and all defensemen in the league—with twelve goals. His five power play goals and three game winners also lead the team in those categories. Urban, who has played to a plus-10 (+10) in twenty-seven games with the Royals this season, has twenty-four total points (12g-12a), which places him second amongst defenseman in the league. Prior to this call-up, Urban played 113 consecutive regular season games with Reading since joining the club in March of 2011. The Royals return to action this Friday (December 21 @ 7:05 pm) when the Gwinnett Gladiators make their first trip of the year to the Sovereign Center in Reading. It’s First Responders’ Night at the Sovereign Center, and the Royals will honor emergency workers for their service in our community. We’ll also host our Pucks & Paws Night on Friday. The Game Night Broadcast kicks off at 6:35 pm on ESPN Radio (1240 am and 98.5 fm).
