Fourth Year Pro Has Played Over 100 AHL Games

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team has agreed to terms with forward David Marshall. A fourth year pro from Buffalo, Minnesota, Marshall (5’11/191) (27) is the fifteenth player announced as signed by the Royals for the 2012-13 season, joining forwards Julien Cayer, Ethan Cox, Tyler Gron, Chris Langkow, Trevor Lewis, Ian O’Connor, Yannick Tifu, and Jesse Todd; and defensemen Garrett Clarke, Adam Comrie, Derrick LaPoint, Bryant Molle, Denny Urban and Brad Walch. Marshall played most of last season with the San Antonio Rampage of the AHL where he registered nine points (5g-4a) and twenty penalty minutes in forty-two regular season games. He also scored a goal in nine post-season games with the Rampage. In addition, Marshall recorded twelve points (8g-4a) in eleven games with the Rio Grande-Valley Killer Bees of the CHL, where he was selected as the team’s captain prior to the start of the season. Marshall, who has played 109 career regular season AHL games (with the Lake Erie Monsters, Rochester Americans, Worcester Sharks, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, and San Antonio), has had two stints in the ECHL. In 2009-10, he played 55 games with the Charlotte Checkers, scoring twenty-three goals and assisting on eleven others. That year, he tied for the team lead with four goals (and nine points) in eleven post-season games with the Checkers. The following year, 2010-11, Marshall racked up twenty-two points (10g-12a) in twenty-eight games for the Wheeling Nailers. Prior to turning pro, Marshall had a record setting four year college career at Quinnipiac University, where he twice led the team in goals scored. In fact, Marshall is the all-time career leader with seventy-three goals in 155 total games for the Bobcats. In his senior season at Quinnipiac, Marshall also set a team record when he recorded at least one point in eighteen consecutive Season Tickets for the 2012-13 Reading Royals ECHL season are currently available.
