Game Night Broadcasts and Coach’s Show to be Featured on 1240 am and 98.5 fm in Reading
Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL and Cumulus Media today jointly announced that the Royals’ radio broadcasts for the 2012-13 ECHL season will be heard on ESPN Radio 1240 am and 98.5 fm, Reading’s sports station. The on-air broadcasts will include the Royals’ regular season and playoff games, as well as the team’s weekly coach’s show. The Royals’ game night radio broadcasts originally aired on ESPN Radio from the inception of the team in 2001 through 2008 and returned to Reading’s sports station last season, when ESPN Radio’s coverage was extended to 98.5 fm, as well as 1240 am. As with seasons past, the game night broadcasts on ESPN Radio will kick off with the pre-game warm-up show beginning thirty minutes before the opening face-off and conclude with a post-game wrap up after the completion of the on-ice action. ESPN Radio will also air the team’s weekly one-hour coach’s show, Royals Radio Recon, on Tuesday nights from 6 to 7 pm. Team broadcaster, Mark Thompson, will continue to handle the game action play-by-play and host the weekly coach’s show with Pat Richards providing color commentary at home games for his tenth consecutive season. The Royals open the 2012-13 regular season in Elmira, New York, on Friday, October 12, 2012, when the team will take on the Elmira Jackals at 7:05 pm. The next night, Saturday, October 13, 2012, the Royals open the home season when the Titans visit the Sovereign Center at 7:05 pm.
