Rugged Forward Will Host Dinner for Four at Stokesay Castle to Raise Funds for Local Animal Shelter

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL encourage fans to bid on “Dinner with Derek” to raise money for the Animal Rescue League of Berks County. Specifically, everyone is invited to participate in an on-line, live auction of the opportunity for four persons to have dinner with Royals’ forward Derek Mathers at Stokesay Castle in late March with all of the proceeds from the charitable auction benefitting the ARL.

“I’m thrilled to have this opportunity to help out the Animal Rescue League,” Mathers said. “I love animals, and I’m proud to be part of this effort to help out such a great cause in the Reading community. I look forward to having dinner with a few Royals’ fans, but I want to make sure that we push the winning bid as high as possible to help out the ARL. Let’s put it this way, the higher the winning bid, the better the stories….”

All fans have to do to participate in the auction is text “royals” to 52182 beginning on Thursday, March 17, at 9:00 am and continuing through Sunday, March 20, at 10:00 pm. The person posting the winning bid will be contacted by a Royals’ representative on Monday, March 21, to work out all appropriate details. Please note that the dinner will be held on either March 21, 22 or 28 at 7:00 pm and that the winner of the dinner and his or her three guests must provide their own transportation to and from Stokesay Castle.

Established in 1952, the Animal Rescue League saves the lives of over 4,000 animals every year. The shelter, which is located on a ten acre site in Birdsboro receives approximately 500 cats and 300 dogs every month, cares for a wide variety of animals every day, including horses, pigs, and chickens.
