Royals Broadcast Returns to CBS SportsRadio

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers of the NHL and the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the AHL, and Cumulus Media today jointly announced that the Royals’ radio broadcasts for the 2014-15 ECHL season will once again be heard on CBS SportsRadio 1240 am and 98.5 fm. The on-air broadcasts will include the Royals’ regular season and playoff games, as well as the team’s weekly coach’s show.

The Royals’ game night broadcasts will kick off with the pre-game warm-up show beginning thirty minutes before the opening face-off and conclude with a post-game wrap up after the completion of the on-ice action. CBS SportsRadio 1240 am and 98.5 fm will also air the team’s weekly one-hour coach’s show, Royals Radio Recon, on Tuesday nights from 6 to 7 pm. Team broadcaster, Mark Thompson, will continue to handle the game action play-by-play and host the weekly coach’s show for the tenth consecutive year with Pat Richards providing color commentary at home games for his twelfth season.

Please note that CBS SportsRadio 1240 am and 98.5 fm is also the Reading-area home for NFL football presented by Westwood One Sports, which includes NFL games on Sunday and Thursday nights. As of this time, it is anticipated that the following NFL broadcasts will directly conflict with Royals games: (i) Thursday, October 30 (v Wheeling); (ii) Thursday, December 4 (v Toledo); (iii) Saturday, December 20 (@ Evansville); (iv) Saturday, January 3 (@ Indianapolis); (v) Saturday, January 10 (v Evansville) and (vi) Sunday, January 11 (v Evansville). For those dates, the Royals’ game night broadcasts will be on the internet only. There will also be a partial conflict with the start of Sunday night football games that will require the Royals’ broadcast to have a shortened post-game show. Those games currently are: (i) Sunday, October 26 (v Elmira); (ii) Sunday, November 16 (@ Toledo); (iii) Sunday, November 23 (v Indianapolis); and (iv) Sunday, December 7 (v South Carolina).

The Royals open the 2014-15 season on Saturday, October 18, at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, West Virginia, where the team will face the Wheeling Nailers. The home portion of the schedule will kick off the following Saturday (October 25, 2014 @ 7:05 pm) when the Elmira Jackals travel to Santander Arena. Royals’ season tickets are currently available.
