Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League, today announced that the team has agreed to terms with defenseman Loic Leduc. He becomes the fifteenth player announced as signed by the Royals to a standard player’s contract for the 2017-18 season.
In addition to Leduc, Reading has also announced the signings of Chase Golighty (d), Michael Huntebrinker (f), Nick Luukko (d), Mark Naclerio (f), Ryan Penny (f), Sam Posa (d), Emil Romig (f), Matt Salhany (f), Adam Schmidt (f), Ryan Segalla (d), Scott Tanski (f), K.J. Tiefenwerth (f), Derek Whitmore (f), and Matt Wilkins (f).
Leduc (6’7 / 222) (23), who hails from Chateauguay, Quebec, is entering his fourth year of professional play. Last season, Leduc recorded three points (1g-2a) and thirty-six penalty minutes in thirty-three games with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League. A fourth round pick of the New York Islanders in 2012, Leduc has played a total of fifty-three AHL games over the past two seasons with the Sound Tigers, registering four points (1g-3a) and seventy-six penalty minutes. He has also played in seventy-six ECHL games in his career with the Stockton Thunder, Colorado Eagles and Missouri Mavericks, recording a total of nine points (5g-4a) and 120 penalty minutes. Prior to turning pro, Leduc played 202 total major junior games primarily with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, where he recorded thirty-one points (9g-22a) and 278 total penalty minutes.
